LUDOX® CL is an acidic, 30% aqueous dispersion of surface treated silica. It carries a positive surface charge and is used as a surface modifier for paper.
LUDOX® CL contains 30% silica with a particle size of 12 nm. It is unique in that it is one of the few grades of colloidal silica that has an acidic pH. Because of the cationic nature of LUDOX® CL it is well suited for frictionizing of paper and fibrous material used in packaging applications for anti-slip purposes. LUDOX® CL is also useful as a binder in applications where an acidic pH is necessary in order to retain formulation stability.
