Have You Used Zonyl® Fluorosurfactants And Repellents In The Past?
Zonyl® fluorosurfactant and repellent grades were discontinued between 2009 and 2014. Capstone® fluorosurfactants and repellents were introduced as sustainable replacements that meet the goals of the U.S. EPA 2010/15 PFOA Stewardship Program. They are based on short-chain molecules that cannot break down to PFOA or PFOS in the environment.
WHICH CAPSTONE® PRODUCT(S) SHOULD YOU TEST?
Capstone® products are not necessarily a one-to-one replacement for Zonyl® products so you may need to test more than one grade. Below are some guidelines on the best starting place. Some formulations may need to be adjusted slightly due to chemical differences. For the best performance matching, please call us at 425.372.9464.
Please note that the percent actives as supplied for Zonyl® and Capstone® fluoroproducts can differ. When replacing a Zonyl® grade with a Capstone® grade in an existing formulation, the concentration should be calculated based on the amount of active ingredient. We also recommend that you test at least three different Capstone® concentrations near and above your previous Zonyl® concentration to find which one provides the maximum performance in your formulation.
